Well, this day finally got here. Took long enough, but finally worked out.
Took some pics, and lots of video. Can tell you firsthand, its a BEAR to operate the tractor and camera at the same time while plowin! Sayin the heck with it for now, and tomorrow night will be the still camera only.
I have about 20 minutes of video, and will upload tomorrow, its rough and shakey in some spots.
Had an awesome time. We were all rookies except grandpa, good thing he was there!
5 A-Cs...... 1951 G, 1943 ( I think) C, 1951 WD with pin hitch 2 bottom, 1959 D-14 with that 2 bottom #82 trip plow I just got, and the 1962 D-19 Diesel with the 4 bottom SC trip plow.
Had to make a bunch of adjustments on the C with plow, not much on the rest. The D-19 was tricky. I plowed in 2nd high, and did alright. Kept close eye on the plow, and lifted and lowered when needed. Gramps said I should be running in 4th gear, he tried that and said the traction booster might not be working right (If i get the video on later, you will see what I mean). The D-14 did great, so did the WD.
The G did good, seemed to not want to go deep enough though. And the C finally did good after the adjustments. Lotta messin around, but dang, that was FUN!!! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Ya, that is me!!

Must be nice, we're notill and minimum till so we never have more than a few acres to plow and can hardly get the plows shined up and set before it's time to put them away. LOL

Looks like fun to me Don, pretty sandy soil you have there? Hard to say what is going on with the D-19 without seeing it but even with the TB not working at all the plow should follow the lead of the hitch, just like the C plow does, and not need dinking with to mantain depth. As a matter of fact the manual will tell you to set the plow depth with the TB off. If its going too deep you need to lengthen the beaming adjustment. The slip heal comes into play also, most are worn to the point of doing nothing. Gauge wheel helps a lot too, we had to add one to our 4X semi mounted to keep the back end from going to China.

Great -- looks like a great time. I saw, as Butch did - pretty sandy soil and flat ---
I'd trade our hilly heavy clay for that -- LOL. Nice looking G - fun little tractors.

Yes, that ground is sand, with clay/loam on the far end. Had the 4 bottom set deep, on the gauge wheel. So I would set the plow deep in the sand, and have to adjust up a little when I got on the clay end. My beaming screw needs a little work, can't adjust it right now. First time I have used this plow, and the #82 plow also.
I could go fine in 2nd gear high. Gramps tried setting the traction booster and going in 4th low, and she put the front end off the ground. Might try 3rd low tonight to get it going.

Overall, I am happy with both trip bottom plows. I was told they can be a pain, and trip sometimes. Has not happened yet, and they seem to be doing a decent job. |

pulling a 4 bottom in 4th low? you guys must be farming a sand pile. our 19 is staying plenty busy on hill side ground in 2nd gear high and ocassionally spins out in a wet spot. this with loaded tires hooked to a 60 series sc 4x16 in the ohio valley doing last years corn stubble.......

I thought it did good in 2nd high, but I was not sure what gear other people run there D-19s in. Havin technical difficulties with the camera now, might be tomorrow before the video.
