I'd say just clean it up and don't repaint. Maybe wax it to bring some luster back to it. Replace decals if you want. But the paint is in real good condition by the looks of it.

I'd LOVE to have that 200 as my "big" tillage tractor. Nice find! I'm ORANGE with jealously.
At most after wash/wax would be to put a new hood decal on it. Mike |

I'll take the other position on this and say if you're going to re-decal it, go all the way and give it a nice repaint as well. I understand that it can only be original once, but it CAN look brand new twice it you want to do it! This is a better candidate for the full resto than some rusty, grimey, dented up fence row relic. All that being said, it's yours, do what you want! Kip

Keep it the way it is for this summer. If you do not have any mechanical problems, repaint it next winter.
Better to find out if you need to tear into it when the paint is old than after a fresh nice gleaming paint job.

Here is the rest of the story. I am getting married in September and my bride to be is nice enough to allow me to include one tractor. However here is one catch, which ever tractor i decide to use has to be restored and she knows i wont redo my 220 and i just cant see redoing this nice of original tractor. I think she is lobbing to have my JD 4020 in the wedding since she comes from a green family. |

Sounds like you need to find a new wife to be, you don't want those kind of restrictions in life. :-) No wife is worth a "limit" on the orange!!!

So it is a color war!!! ? The good news, as was said above, is that you will not have to do as much work to make this one look new, that is, it will not take much to put new paint on it because you do not have to take off a lot of rust.
you have to make a decision, we are behind you....no, we are with you on what you decide.

I vote for polishing the paint and leaving it originial. I have 5 excellent originial tractors that will never be repainted as long as I own them. Also have repainted tractors.

A little elbow grease and some appropriate decorations for the occasion and that tractor will be great for the wedding. I think you can get her looking just fine.

Ask her if you should paint the 200 John Deere Green and Yellow. And if she is ok with it, call the hole thing off before it's to late.

Repaint the weights, the consel cover and front wheels, buy a spray bomb from AGCO and try it in an inconspicous location it should match pretty well, if it does repaint the frame rail under the engine and any other place where the paint is worn off or stained. Then buff it out and wax and it should be ready for wedding photo's. Nothing wrong with a mixed marrige, some of my best friends have two color households.

Seams to me that a woman with that color blood would have to have a good high paying job or be in line to inherit alot to worth making the tradeoff. LOL
BTW the 200 looks great if it were mine i would not repaint it but if thats what it takes to get it in the wedding. A mans gotta do what a mans gotta do.
Congratulations on the engagement. if she reeds this hope she understands i am just kidding. I'm sure you will be happy.

Im not sayin anything new, my vote is for a cleaner wax like meguiars, and leave it alone!
And if ya need a freshly painted tractor for the wedding photos, my guess is that would be a dang good reason to BUY ANOTHER ONE!!!

Leave the tractor original. As far as the wife to be, you might want to date a bit more. I've been around those Green Deere people and, well, just be careful. Going orange is going great!

My personal feeling on this is leave it original. I feel it's a resale thing, and a good feeling seeing the original paint. I would pay more if I saw good original paint. You're getttin married, you're in deep. Let the green one come along, and shine up the 200 and bring it too. Marrage is a crazy ass two way street!!! <<>><<...>><<??????????Give n take. The man always gives more.LOL
