 Topic: Factory WC tires

Does anyone know what Allis used for their factory tires? I have a set on my WC I think may be origional tires after it was converted to rubber. Just curious as to what brand Allis was using if any specific brand. The only thing I see on mine is "Sure Grip."

Marion Klutzke has a 1934 WC with original rear tires. They are Firestones.

They used Firestones, and a kind of diamond tread Good Year.

I am just happy they are good enough I don't need to replace them! I got the rims and tires separated and the calcium out of them today and they get paint tomorrow.

as i recall it was Firestone tires on our 40 wc with the slogan "Gum Dipped" tagged onto the rear tires......

Dad bought our 35 WC back in the early 70's in immaculate original condition. These tires were on it, fronts were also original and motor had never been touched and paint was perfect. He made that tractor into puller and now regrets doing it to that tractor. Needless to say these tires came off and were put in the shed and we put them on this tractor when restored in 2009. They rims even had shiny original black paint on them before I put a fresh coat of black on them. That 35 WC did not have many hours on it, and that is why these tires are in the condition they are. However they did see the pulling track a few times back in the 70's and its amazing they look like they do.

I cannot remember back to the early 30's but the tires I remember coming as original equipment were Firestone, Good Year, and Goodrich. We never knew what we were getting till it was received. I don't believe the dealer had the option of what tires were on the new tractors with the exception of turf or agriculture. Later the industrial tires became available.
The Firestone tires were the closed center tires. Frankly till Firestone adopted the open center tire we did not like them. Did not seem to pull well in hard ground. The Good Year hat the open center tire with equal treads. Goodrich had the open center but with two alternating long and short lugs.
