Anyone ever put duals on a D17? Just won a set of clamp ons in an online auction and am wondering where to put the eyes for the hooks on the tractor rims. If anyone has some photos, it would be cool to see as well.
Thanks

if you have the wright eye's for the wheels' they go on the rails in the rims. should be 4 on each wheel. got three sets of them' they work nice on the old tractors. we use a set on a WC with 28'' 13.6. wd45 ' D17' an a WD. good for working ground' an planting' even with one on land for plowing. they look cool also..

DAD ran clamp/on duals on his D 17 for 18 years until he traded it for a D 19(HE still regrets that backward move 32 years later). The only time they came off was to put the NEW IDEA mounted picker on. Sorry, don't have any pics

I grew up around a D17 and now own it. Later in life I have been around plenty of tractors with duals. The 17 I have been around always had decent tires never seen a need for duals on it. i would much rather have some nice Firestone radials. Was the drive train even design to with stand them?

If this site was more picture friendly I would post pics of the mounting hardware on my 8030 or 7060.

I have a set of the clams with eyes that go on the rails also on my WD45. They work good.
on a D17 I would also think about getting eyelet nuts and putting them on the wedge bolt that tightens the rail clamps.

16.9 X 28 duals on a D-17 made a big difference when discing ground that had been moldboard plowed. Made a 13 ft 6 inch disc work really well because the tractors wheel tracks weren't nearly as deep.

Tony I ran a set of 16.9X28's on my series 4 when I planted crops. Still have them. Haven't used them for 25 years. The eyes screwed on to the bolts that tightened down the wedges holding the rims tight to the tractor. Worked good, greatly reduced compaction. Should sell them I won't use them again.
