Those are common to a 'war' B. Purpose was to reduce the steel wheels flinging dirt and mud. Have one in my collection with rear steel and front spokes cut down to rubber

Check the unit closely. You may have some other War Time Items such as, cast iron valve cover, cast iron oil pan, and cast iron final drive pans. I see you have electric starter and lights. That may have been added after WWII. In fact from my Father's Dealership we junked the WWII items and replaced the steel wheels with rubber, took out the starter plug and put in a starter and other electric items. Also, take a close look at the serial number. When you have the accurate number you can place your model year. Usually it will be late '42 - '45. Take good care of my favorite. Good Luck! Bill Long

The ad does say it's a 1942......So, it probably does have many unique WWII items on it.
Saw it on the Boston, MA craigslist. Here is a link to anyone who is interested: |

Was the breather pipe longer on the War model B? It was on mine, long gone.

I thought about putting a set on mine, as it's a 42. I think they look neat as well. Oddly enough it doesn't have any war options on it, though.
I think it's a late 42, because it has a CE engine whos serial number pre-dates the 1943 beginning serial number. CE10163K (Kerosene). Edited by CrestonM - 08 Jun 2018 at 8:57am |
