When I tell people that I received a letter from the President when I was barely 19 years old, they usually have a skeptical look..... I believe it read something like...."Greetings from the President, your friends and neighbors have selected you".........
Oh yeah there wasn't any smiley faces at the bottom either..

I got one of those letters too.Ser. no. ended in 777 said i had a lucky no.Got out in sept 63.

I ALMOST got one of them too, but I went ahead and joined the Navy before Unc could get it to me...
Holy cow Walt, you got out when I was goin into freshman year!!
Tim, you also beat me by a year,,,,,I went in in 67. I got an all expenses paid vacation to East Asia. I sometimes wonder......
Then when I got out, I started on the Fire Dept and never looked back. I just love helping people!!

Yes, I got one too in 1967 and they left me out in 1969 only I was state side the whole time. Thank You For Your Service
