I was putting about a pound of crushed corn in the bird feeder all summer.. Load at 7 am and GONE by 11 am........ Loaded it last Friday and still have a cup full in the feeder today... Guess ALL the birds are leaving. ..... had Bluejays, Robins, Cardinals , wood peckers and lots of sparrows.
Like them all, but love the "B"s.

Wish the hummingbirds would move on my wonderful is going to bankrupt us feeding the little buggers. She buys 25 or 30 .........Confused even 40 pounds of sugar every 2 weeks.  She does not even like birds.Three and sometimes 4 of the big feeders every day.

Oh well she feeds me good too.

Well to hot for the doves to be packing around here. 103 to keep that darn old machine away. Still a little hard on animals was 51 this morning so 52 degree change from low to hi.

With deer season closed on Sunday already a nice forked horn eating acorns out by the road. The last state that does not allow doe hunting during the general season.

The hummingbirds are beginning to leave here also. the feeders are not going down as fast as they were. They usually leave around the first week of October.

Joe, I was in Ore Grande back around March '97 and it turned off overcast, drizzly, and cold for a few days and it was plumb miserable, don't blame those doves for leaving. We didn't have any heat in the shacks we were staying in and it was about 100 yards to the latrines/showers..
Just an old country boy saved by the grace of God.

Our buzzards will leave in 2-3 weeks. There's so many road kill deer around here I don't have to buy feed for them.

I had hummers here 5 days ago, but they are all gone now.  The feeders haven't been touched since.
Gonna be an early, cold, wet winter!!
I've had more dragonflies here than normal.  Had a couple hundred one day just hovering and flitting.  Was a neat sight to behold.  Don't know if it was mating or just mosquito catching....We've had BAD mosquitoes all year!!
Taking the feeders down tomorrow...lows overnight have been in the 30's and highs are only going to be in the upper 50's for the next week. Double sigh,,,,

We see lots of them up here on the hill. Few years ago there were upwards of 100 at one time up our driveway.

Well,G..I always heard none of the tarantulas of the USA are not poisonous but they'll sure make you hurt yourselves trying to get out their way,,,,LOL
Kinda like them Vinagaroons,,,thems the ugliest sobs and do not bite but you will hurt yourself trying to get away from themLOLLOL
Speakin of vinagaroons,,,,,bout two weeks ago,,I'm sittin in den watchin tv and I look down and there is a full grown vinagaroon just cruisin  along on the rug,,,,, CHIT,,!!! I jumped up on the recliner and trying to sic the yorkies on it but,,,but,,,they wasn't wanting nuttin to do with it either,,,!!!I finally calmed down enough to go get a shovel and let it walk into it before it tried to spray and pitched it outside after dousing it aplenty with some Home Defense.
Only'ist thing I can figure is the Grandson had been visiting over the weekend and he HATES to close the doors when he goes in or out  and it must of just crawled right on in,,,Thems ugly and smell bad when they do spray,,,,
