Okay guys I have to really put this post up with great haste if you will. Just for fun and frustration I ordered an aftermarket gauge and sender from VDO. I used a retractable 3 wire test lead and started to hook it up without installing and realized something. The temp gauge needs a ground. The original Allis Chalmers gauges don't use one but The Replacements from AGCO have the post for it. After looking at the aftermarket gauge which needs power, ground, and signal it made perfect sense. Hit me like a brick! I grounded the gauge and it is just fine. Wow, that is a total and massive loss of time and a huge piece of humble pie! Not proud but needed to let you know after all my frustration and the post that I had to help. The block temps are still all over the map but at least the gauge is accurate now. Ughh...

Staring at the schematic and comparing original to new AGCO replacement gauge now makes sense. Two months ago I never even paid attention to it. Keep this in mind!...
