I just got my rebuilt G started, but I don't have any oil pressure. I primed the pump first, have a good gauge on it, but have nothing. Yesterday I pulled the engine out about 2" so I could drop the oil pan to check the pick up. I wasn't sure if it was in right. It is about 1/4" off the bottom of the pan. I installed a T under the oil gauge and with a hand pump, pumped oil into the oil lines obtaining 20 pounds of pressure, enough to open the relief valve. I had oil coming out of the cam, the oil filter, and the oil pick-up tube. Today I bolted it back up and restarted it. Still no oil pressure. I added 2 more quarts of oil, 5 total, and attached my pump to the oil pressure tube again. I pumped it up to 20 pounds again, but it will drop off to 0 after I stop pumping. I'm ready to pull the engine off again and pull the oil pump off. Any Ideas what I'm missing? Sorry for the long post

Did you have the oil pump apart? Have you taken the relief valve apart to make sure the poppet is seating?

Dick, I had the pump apart, checked tolerances and removed the relief valve. It will hold 20-25 lbs of pressure before it pops Thanks. Bob

I took the pump out today and found that the gasket kit had the wrong thick gasket.
It should have had a large hole in it with 2 horseshoe cutouts, instead it was the same configuration as the thin paper gasket. I didn't realize the problem when I put it together the first time, having never worked on a N62 before. The gasket was solid with 3 holes in it. The pump gears chewed the gasket material and jammed it in the gears and popped the shear pin in the drive gear. As far as I can tell, none of the gasket material got beyond the pump. Having had gasket sealer on it, it was gummy and stuck to the gears and the housing. Thanks Bob
