I had to rebuild the valve under the steering column on the engine side of the firewall. How do I bleed the air out of the hydraulics? It turns extremely hard. Any help would be great

Air would usually cause spongy or intermittent jerky movement?

If the effort is high, I'd suspect something is wrong in the seal area of the orbitrol you just had apart.

I had exact same thing happen. Wouldn’t believe that I switched 2 hoses, but I DID.

That was a long time ago. 2 of the 4 obviously, but I don’t remember. Bleeding is not your issue , when the hoses are on correctly you can spin the steering wheel with one finger, I guarantee you.

I bought the seal kit and the bearing kit for it and replaced everything exactly how the diagram shows. I'm to the point now do I just buy a new valve or try to fix this one again

Hoping to go and try to figure it out tomorrow morning. I do have another question.
On this same tractor how do I figure out which 3 wires need to be hooked up to the bottom side of the alternator? |

I put it on exactly how it is supposed to be put on, its locked turning in to the left. I switched the hoses and its jerky, but the wheel will turn in the opposite direction I'm wanting to turn it. Any help would be useful. Thank you

I'm afraid the harsh reality is this: you need to go somewhere and find another 8000 series tractor and VERIFY the hose connections. You have switched hoses and still have troubles ??

Did the valve turn free before it was put back on? If bolts were taken out, were they torqued even or over torqued? MACK

I went to the local agco dealership and a gentleman showed me the exact way the lines are supposed to go on. I went off that diagram as well. The torque specs said 225 inch lbs of torque.

Did you pull the orbital valve out. If so You may have gotten it out of time. I have heard that’s how they act when out of time. Good luck

Should the tires be straight when putting this control valve on?

It makes no difference. That valve is nothing more than a fluid director. Turn one way and it puts pressured oil out one line...turn it the other way and it puts pressured oil out the other line. It don't care where the cylinder is positioned when you begin.

Just a thought, did you happen to change the hydr filters during this time frame? There is a piece on the end of the filter if not reinstalled, it will act that way. Been down that road once.

Interesting! Sometimes guys do more than one thing at a time and have a situation show up that is caused by something else but it isn't mentioned.
