dd brakes

   Hello,

I am a recent owner to a 1965 dd grader.  when purchasing the seller told me he had to replace 1 brake line because it was ripped off from a broken snow chain.

today: working on my driveway (no snow, no chains) I hear a pop and no more brakes, on the same wheel he had replaced the line, it looks as though the brake shoe(and housing behind wheel) was seized to the wheel and is now turning along with the wheel, no wonder the line is broken. 

I have not acquired a repair manual yet, I could just replace the line, yet I think that would be a short term fix, does anyone know why the brake housing would be turning as well?  I see a (3/4"?) stud on that side of the wheel with a nut, is that some kind of stop?

has anyone heard of mounting a nose snow plow on one of these?  for snow removal at the state dot we used a 14G cat and the v plow on front was most excellent, was thinking about maybe adding one to this?

is anyone has a line on manuals for this machine, I actually started looking last night (before this incident) and that is how I found this forum!

	Brake backing plate is probably broken around the mounting bolts. It's been a while since I looked at the manual. I have never seen a vee plow on the front of one, but anything is possible. To wit: AC had a loader that fit on the back of the DD, and also a shoulder maintainer that fit on the loader frame...

	Thanks, I found a manual on amazon. I guess this is a take the wheel off and fix it right kind of job... the shoulder maintainer, kind of like a sloper blade?
