for you TL-12 owners.  Do the Pre 1960 redesign models with diesel engine have the same frame as the gas models?  My gasser that i thought was a steal has a lot of blowby and im pretty sure it needs and overhaul.  I am entertaining the idea of transplanting a diesel into it (252) as I plan to use it and would be better on fuel.  (yeah, expensive and a lot of work)
Looks as if the rear axle pivot would be in the oil pan, and a really tight squeeze to get it in there.

otherwise loader is in very good condition,   i will not be chopping anything up to change motors,  if im dreaming and its not a direct swap, i will just overhaul the 17 gas engine and put it back in.

My early TL12 had it's engine replaced with a 353 Detroit which sort of fits, although they had to move some parts around to make it work. I would think the diesel would bolt right in cause I'm pretty sure there wasn't really any difference between the two besides for the engine, but I'd want to do a bunch of measuring first.

i didnt think there was much difference either.  since my first post i measured a 230 gas engine i have and also put the tape to the TL-12.  the engine would fit with the radiator moved back a ways, but i cant understand how they get it past the rear axle pivot.  on a TL-10 2wd, it would be easy, with only a steer axle back there.  but the TL-12 drive axle pivot sticks up into the engine compartment and really doesnt clear the 226 gas crank pulley by much.   i would really ike to see some pictures of a diesel to see how it was done.
