Guys: Getting ready to rebuild my steering clutches. Is it best to disconnect the brake band and then the remove the C - Clip and use the brake band to lift the steering clutches out?
I know the C Clip needs to be removed first and the shaft slid in toward the tranny. I peered down into the steering clutch well but did not see the C-Clip that needs to be removed as mentioned in other posts. Any guidance on this detail would be helpful... Thank - you...Orangeman!

The c clips keep the drive shafts in place. Removing the c clips and sliding the driveshafts to the left or right allows the shafts to disengage to allow for removal of the clutch packs. You can use the brake bands as a sling. Works slick. Beats he daylights out of splitting the tracks and removing final drives as other brands are designed. We have an HD3 and have done it to ours. Make sure that the clutches have been modified so that they use the 3/8" tie bolts versus the 5/16 bolts as the clutches will come apart. Use steel lock nuts to secure the tie bolts on the clutch packs. This mod is in the tractor MM.
