I'm having a problem hooking up a spring. It's part of the twine wrap mechanism. It hooks behind the big gear on the left side. I raised the stop the twine tube sets on, and when the tube fell down about the middle of the baler, it was closer to hooking, but I still was not man enough to stretch it and hook it.

It's been near 20 years since I used a Roto-Baler, however I've never had any problems hooking any of the springs. I'd need a picture to know just which one you're referring to then I could look in the parts book. Are you trying a proper spring or just one you got from a farm store?
If it was fun to pull in LOW gear, I could have a John Deere.
Real pullers don't have speed limits.
If you can't make it GO... make it SHINY

It is the proper spring,  I also have a picture of it from the parts manual,  but have no idea how to post pictures on this forum.  I posted the question with the picture on the Roto Baler Facebook page.  I think I might be able to hook it if I could get the twine arm to fall all the way down across the baler.

I don't bother with flakebook. If you need to cycle the arm to the outside of the baler, remover the drive belt and turn the pully to position the arm where you want it.
To post pictures here, follow the simple instructions in the member control panel area, but first resize your picture to something like 700X500 pixels.

Images can be added to your posts, if the forum administrators have allowed uploading of images you can use this to upload an image from your own computer into your message. However, if image uploading is not available then you will need to link to the image that needs to be stored on a publicly accessible web server, e.g. http://www.mysite.com/my-picture.jpg.

I don't consider that simple instructions.

The majority seem to be able to master the task.

Which spring is beyond your ability to get connected?

It's spring no. 32 in the picture.  We got it hooked by using a long Kotter key and then cutting it.  Posting pictures still eludes me.  The web site listed in the instructions says:  "page not found".

I see nothing to hit to load a picture off my computer.  I also notice there are very few pictures posted on this site compared to many others I visit.

I remember doing it with a pair of vice grips and pulling with my legs. Problem is if you slip, you roll down the table. I remember that part especially well.
I have never been able to figure out exactly how to post pictures either. Doesn't help paul has the tact of a rotting cat

I just did mine today and those were definitely a pain. Had use a pair of needle nose pliers. And the springs that came in kit with closed ends I found easier to put a new cotter pin but put it through the eye the spring first then insert the cotter pin if that makes sense.

I went with a really long cotter pin hooked to the spring,  and then pulled the spring with twine till the cotter pin was in the hole,  the cut the end off the cotter pin.

I also noticed the Paul wasn't winning any popularity contests.

It’s really not hard. Even the decrepit Mr Snerdly can do it.

My screen doesn't look like that.  I did find a box that has a picture of a tree in it though.....it led me to pictures (I think).

I think the window you have depends on the device you are using. I usually use my laptop. I tried to post a picture with my phone and had a completely different window.
