Yep it's getting that time again and sad to say in my world it's lawn mowing season. This past Tuesday I was working in the shop and glanced over at my mower and wondered if it would even crank over or is this the season for a new battery. Low and behold it started. Noticed earlier in the day that the grass was at that point so at half past midnight I decided rather than waste good daylight tomorrow doing something I hate let's go for it now. Living in the country with closest neighbor half mile away you can get by with that. Looking back I'm glad I did as it has rained every day since and a whole lot more on its way this weekend. Guess with all the moisture when it dries up a bit it would be a good time to roll the yard in hopes of taking out the drink spillers and mole hills, not to mention the limbs that are big enough to see but not worth picking up.

It's amazing how things change as we age. I remember, years ago hating mowing lawn. It would get too long and I would struggle to get it mowed and it looked like a hay field when I got done.

Now that i have been retired a few years, I look forward to mowing. Of course I have a lot better equipment now. In 2011, I bought a new Massey Ferguson GC2400 (subcompact) tractor with a loader and 60" mowing deck. I would put on my headphones and listen to news and music while I mowed.

Over the years, my mowing has expanded and I am now up to about 4 1/2 acres. Last year I bought a 54" Ferris Zero Turn and cut my mowing time by a couple hours.

I, too, started my mower a couple days ago and I am just waiting for enough grass to have an excuse to get out there!

I've never regretted departing urbanity for this reason.  Even with neighbors closer, they get it, and they don't care.  Seeing the yard lit up around the zero turn is no different than seeing the fields lit up by a planting rig or combine.  Mother Nature is OUR HOA.
Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest.
