I need to make some side shields to protect the engine (fan & radiator) from tree limbs when backing the machine in heavy brush. Had a small limb get between fan belt and drive pulley.........broke the belt.......guess I got off easy.  Anyway, I'm hoping someone here on the forum has either built some or seen some factory made and can offer suggestions on how to build (or not) a pair.
Why is there never time to do it right the first time, but always time to go back and fix it?

Here is a pic of factory side shields. These came off a 5g and i haven't put them back on. I often thought i should so i don't get the branches in by the engine. These are made out of 16 gauge steel  and the recessed part by the latch is made out of a little heavier steel. The hook n the lip thats on the egde of the hood and the latch hooks on the fender that is along the engine. I could probably bend a set up for you but they wouldn't have the louvers in them and they may cost a little bit to ship.   Hope this helps you out Matt

Matt: Thanks for the pics and comments.  I have some sheet steel and expanded metal so will make some in the next few weeks (depending on weather).  I thought about the lip on the hood, but could not think of a good way to fasten the bottom.  Will post some pics  when I get them done..........O_O
 
P.S.  I saved your pic to my hard drive, so will look at it a few times as I figure things out.
