I believe you have the backhoe subframe still attached, it would have to be removed, and 3 point hitch arms installed into the lift arms on the right and left. Also needed is the 3 point hitch lower frame that bolts upright into the 3 bolts that are now holding the drawbar bracket into place. Lots of expensive parts to buy.

pbqc3803 I don't own a I 40, but I stayed at a holiday inn, last night... Actually I own parts of an I-40 + a D-10 series 3 and a D-12 series 3. If I ever find an I40 or I400, in fair shape, for a good price, I would buy it in a heartbeat! However, those 2 circumstances have failed to align, so as of now I am I40less! I do, however know what they look like, as the D-12 is the tractor that they were based on. Unfortunately, I are a computer illiterate, and can't post pictures. I suggest you find a copy of Norm Swinford's book, Allis Chalmers Construction Machinery & Industrial Equipment. That, and try looking in the Photo database of this site, and over at yesterday's tractors site. I'm pretty sure there is a picture of what you are seeking.

The first three are from my I-40.
The forth one is of my d12 series three missing the cover.
The fifth one is the cover that I'm going to install.
I also have the traction booster and depth linkage and handles if you need me to take pics of them.
Sorry it took so long to post.

So if I don't have a shaft sicking out then I do not have a pto do I. I was wondering if I took that back plate off if there would be one on there but looking at yours the shaft is sicking out so that is telling me I do not have one. Not unless someone has taken theree plate off like mine in the pic and ther is a shaft. Thanks Brad for posting pic it helps to know that there are different things about the I 40. Now if I can Just figure out how to hook up a box scraper. Thank you Brad for the help. Paul B

learned something already . mine dont have hyd controls to the right of the seat , just ones on the loader. Is that the way it came or am I missing something . are the controls by the seat for the factory 3pt and backhoe. or did they all have them? mine don't have a pto either.

I would assume that the controls for any type of hyd. 3 point would be next to the seat. My I-40 Backhoe controls are on the backhoe itself. Let me know if you need manuals I have electronic versions I can send to an email.

Beautiful machine, I really like the look of those front tires. They look so wide and meaty any idea what size they are? I have 7.50x16 truck/trailer tires on mine and I need to upgrade they are wore out pretty bad and one tire's edge really digs into the ground when you turn sharp. I
think that would be the ideal machine along with having the backhoe with it. Not sure what all the levers and pedals are for on the left side. Mine only has a clutch pedal and is a 4 speed only. I see there are braces in the bucket also. I need to get an oval muffler and new exhaust manifold for mine, I have the oval hole in hood but round muffler and want to get the correct one for her. Thanks for the pictures..

One other thing: WHERE IS THE BATTERY
One thing I do not like is my battery (which sits left of the seat) is very hard to get around when you use the backhoe. I have thought about relocating it below the seat underneath the steel plate near where the PTO would be, in a custom made box. I do not see it in any of the pictures.
Thanks again..

my btry box (cuatom built) is on the inside of the loader frame on the left side. on this I600 it's probably under the hood like the D14's & 15's.

easygoin , heres the3 pictures. It's not much of a box, just a platform welded to the loader frame, w/ a bungie holding the btry down, it is out of the way though.
