Been noticing more and more ads on FB, people selling cb radio's lately. I quit running mine several years ago due to little to no help on the roads, just a lot of chatter around truck stops.

I know cb usage really dropped when cell phones came on the scene.
With evermore encroaching laws regulating phone use in commercial vehicles, it’s possible cb’s may make a comeback. I know at one time a cb radio in commercial vehicles were considered a piece of ‘safety equipment’ thus, laws about use of hand held devices did not apply to cb radios. I tried to follow the science, but it was not there. I then followed the money, and that’s where I found the science.

In contrary to the original question... Seeing an increase in frequency of things being 'for sale' does not constitute a 'resurgence of interest'... in contrast, it demonstrates that there's someone trying to get rid of something they no longer want. ![]() |

Ten Amendments, Ten Commandments, and one Golden Rule solve most every problem. Citrus hand-cleaner with Pumice does the rest.

I noticed that with business radio's, the frequency they are on is illegal to use now but didn't stop people from trying to dump the worthless units online. On the other hand, when a snow storm came through, I saw a lot of LP space heaters for sale.

everybody selling them cause they cant understand the garbage on them! Illegals have taken over and you cant understand a word they say! Citizens get tired of that crap so are getting rid of the radios. On auctions here they cant get a dollar bid on a whole box of them!!
Still have my base unit that I ran back in the 70's and up til the mid 80's that I did skip talking with. Never use it and dont have an antenna anymore and this late in life have no desire to get one!

C.B.s are still KING when it comes to communicating with other vehicles.
Let's say you have the best of the best smart phone with the best of the best service and thousands of contacts; let's say you have just came out of a blind curve on a steep hill where you have just came past a school-bus full of kids laying on it's side and you see a loaded truck making his way down the hill, quickly approaching the blind curve --- let's grab our wonderful smart phone and give him a call to warn him of the situation ------- oh wait --- we don't know his phone number --- and, even if we did, what if he is already talking with his hot mother-in-law and the line is busy --- what to do --- what to do..... A C.B. is immediate; you don't have to know anything about the guy; just grab your mic and tell him to grab the bridle and hold that horse back. I have C.B.s in all of our trucks and they constantly stay on Channel 19, with big, loud-and-clear external speakers situated within inches of my ears. When you are on a many-laned highway and traffic is at a stand-still, backed up for miles, yet certain trucks seem to be able to snake right on through; or, they are leaving the interstate at that exit that you just passed and here you have trapped yourself into a several hours wait and may get yourself rear-ended in the process; you can bet and believe that those guys have C.B.Radios and have been aware of the situation miles before they got there --- did anyone call you on your wonderful phone and apprise you of the situation ?
