It is not easy, you have to get the lock pin out of the pin that holds the cylinder then remove it and they did not leave much room to get into it.

There is a hole at bottom to drive the hair pin out. Drive a thin chisel behind pin to start it out. MACK

For me on the ones I've done it was worth the time to remove the batteries and box to work from the front side of it.

Make sure it is the cylinder, we have had to replace the metal hydraulic lines on several 185’s above the lift cylinder as they wear through and leaked on the left side. Just a thought, it does sound like you have tried to narrow down the leak source already. Edited by allisbred - 17 Jul 2021 at 5:51am |

I was able to get the lock pin out this morning, armed with the info that was shared. I was getting ready to remove the battery box, but tried it one more time and out it popped. Bought my first A-C last week, between this sight and the Granite IA Threshing Bee I'm now bidding on a WC and inquiring on a WD. Wat have you done to me

I have a cyclinder leaking and I remember repairing one many years ago. So long ago that I forgot how I did it. I knew it wasn't that hard to get the cyclinder off. Maybe mine is a later model or something. After looking for the pin everyone was talking about I consulted my parts book and realized mine had a hitch type pin sticking out the front side that I was easy to remove with a screwdriver. Battery box even had a cut out to pull the pin through. I think mine is around an 1980 model 185.
