Hi,
I installed an alternator and repaired some of the wiring on this tractor. Now the batteries are getting drained over night.
The alternator is wired per the instructions I had. Here is the wiring:

diode is leaking back to drain battery , one of the 3 diodes on unit may be bad or

The wire from terminal 1 needs to go to the ignition side of the ignition switch, then it needs a diode or a resistor to keep it from feeding power back and supplying ignition power with the ignition switch shut off. Alternatively an ungrounded switch closed by oil pressure can be used to connect that line.
One or more of the main rectifiers in the alternator can be leaking too. Gerald J. |

Thanks guys. My error was where I put #1 wire. I now put it on the switch side where it will only have a closed circuit with the switch on.
