When I junk older model cars, I always look in the trunk for the jack. I have 4 or 5 and always come in handy for lots a lots of things even use them to break the beads down on my tires. But today I found a new use that I figured I would share for those that might find themselves in the same predicament.  Finally located a 18.4 28 tire for my d17. It was used but it still had the center in it and it was mounted up for the side I needed. Thought it wouldn't take to long to change out, yow right. don't think they had ever been off since new. Tried every thing even the impact, but to no avail. I knew the 3/4 break over would do the trick but couldn't figure out how to hold it on the lug nut and work the cheater pipe at the same time. Then the bumper jack come to mind. Worked like a charm.

Yes that bead was trash. I never had one do that before. Ive had a many come apart but never just break. Made for a fun ride to the work area.

have you got a photo or explaination of how you use the jack to  break the tire bead off  a rim ?  Do you have a clamp to the center hub ?  I have done this, but normally have trouble with jack or C-clamp sliding off to the outside of the tire... got a better way to hold it up against the rim ??

Steve for breaking tires down it is best to get one and weld the base onto the jack. then position the tire beside something like the front of your tractor to where the jack and bead are just a little over parallel. For you will want to drive the foot of the jack back under the rim and onto the bead once the foot clears the rim. Once in a while you might have to use a wedge or tire spoon to work the bead off on around the rim but most of the time it will break down the first try. Don't know if this helps of confuses, but here you go.
