I just talked to a buddy of mine, and he has the Series III D17D on the trailer on the way to my place. It is the one that I posted back in Feb, that was for sale in Bowmanville. It was sold when I went to look at it, but the guy that bought it didnt want to pay to get it hauled home. Paid for it and never heard it run. The guy pushed him to start it. He says it runs nice, but lots of blow by, which I already knew. It has either an Allis or Henry loader and 8 pie weights. Will post pics when I get home.

I am going to restore it and put the Henry 305 loader I have on it. I would like to make it a high crop. Was there any thing to differeniate a high crop and a standard tread. as far as serial # go.

Hi Brian, nice to hear you got that tractor. I remember seeing the ad. Thought about getting it, but realized I had enough money pits to look after first!

Brian, D-17 High crops prior to series IV were all built by Tompson. I think that you want to make your series III a High Clearance. You need to find 38" PS wheels from a MF 65 High Arch and long spindle front axle. The front will be the hard part. This is what I did with my Series IV diesel.

Like Calvin says, I have a MF65 high clearance and the rear hubs and wheels are identical. I think you will also need a pair of real wheel spacers . Or at least my D-17 high clearance has them. Dave.

The 38's bolted right on my D-17 without spacers the same as the originial 28's. I have a 60" row spacing with enough clearance to the fenders. Dave your spacers may have been necessary for a maximum wide row spacing.

I believe the differences are
taller front spindles
38" rear wheels
6" axle extensions
different fender mounts to go along with the axle extensions

Matt, I've seen the 6" axle extensions on D-14 and D-15 tractors but never on a D-17.
Are you talking about the main cast axle extension similiar to the D-14/15 or a hub extension where the wheel center bolts on? I'm open to learning something new everyday!
