The last two days I have been in the anhydrous tractor custom applying for local farmers (I work at a local Coop).  Anyway the tractor is a 8345 John Deere 9I think it actually says 8345s).  Anyway talk about a nice machine.  It has the CVT transmission (I think that is what it is called), and autosteer.  Wow they have come a long way from my WD45 and 190.  This thing would run across ground that my 190 would spin out on without a load. It has duals front and back.  Pulling a 17 knife blue jet "high wheel" bar pulling two 1450 tanks.  I'm definately impressed.  I still think I will keep the ol' 190 though.

Sounds like a heck of a tractor. Makes one wonder what AC would have in the field today had it survived....

ya and if you all only know what the CVT transmissions is. its AMAZING! a 4 year old could run it haha

I'd be interested in seeing the inside of one. GM and Ford have a couple CVT trannys. They are nothing more that a set of planetaries for forward and reverse, and what looks like a snowmobile belt drive. Just curious how they do it in a tractor.

AGCO has the CVT ever since they acquired Fendt. Neighbor here has ACGO version would do the same thing. Fred

I don't understand the hate either. I guess because the orange got dropped in place of the red. But world over, the red is more popular and sold way more units than orange ones. We use to sell both! and I hate to say it would prefer the latest style red mf designed tractors to AC ones. All Brands had their lemons of the bunch. I think they made a mistake by dropping orange color to those that want it!

Redline    The only massey I have and ever cared anything about is a MF 1805 4 wheel drive.If you know much about the 1805's is there realy not anything like a massey.Simple gear driven tractors with the throw away cat 3208 engines.Use to have a MF 1135 with low hrs....absolutely the sorriest tractor I have ever used.Had neighbors that tried the 2700 series Massey's.The dealers finally told them that could not keep the transmissions in them.In Tx'x you can't hardly give the older Massey's away.

They control the planetary intermediary with a hyd pump arrangement. It means the gears still take the brunt of power transfer, but speed is controlled hydraulically. It avoids pure hydraulics (like a swash plate of a hydro) and the shifting/speed limitations of a gear setup. It does absorb some power to run the hydraulics of course. Could be a staple of future products once the wrinkles are worked out.

I can fully understand.  Remember, farm equipment technology has imporved several generations since the Allis Chalmers 190.  I view the tractors at the dealership, and in the field and quite simply I'm blown away by the power, the comfort, the hydrallic capability, and the size.  I used to be able to stand on the ground and put my hand on the hood of the D-17.  Not now.  I stood next to a John Deere four wheel drive articulated 550 HP tractor and could hardly reach the top of the tires.  I'm blown away by the size of the implements - gazillion row no till planters, combine headers we never dreamed of, etc. 
You are forgiven.  The newer equipment is sooo much better than the ones I sold.

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the A-C tractors.  My grandfather and uncles used A-C equipment on their dairy farm and my uncles have newer AGCO tractors now.  I think its unfortunate that AGCO decided to end the sale of the orange tractors, but to be honest, there wasn't any mechanical differences, only the paint job, so its not like they were true A-C tractors rolling out of West Allis.  I have a 2010 MF 1643 and it is a terrific tractor.  I figured it was the closest thing I could get to an A-C.

we just bought an 8430 with front duals, 8320R is what replaced it.  No IVT, would get AGCO/Massey if wanted a CVT.  I look at a tractor for what it can do for me, not what color it is.

No offense but i think some of these guys are living in the past and are having difficulty accepting change. Its good to embrace the past but realisticly Allis Chalmers is history. AGCO is a new company and the Massey brand is and has been world wide one of the largest tractor manufacturers. They must be doing something right. I don't understand why they don't just offer both color Tractors through all of the dealers. 

The universal answer to all questions is yes, how much do you want to spend?
