Howdy to all you orange folks....
I've been away for a while. Some of you may recall that I lost my good friend and tractor buddy about this time last year. That took the wind out of my AC sails for a while as he was both a great friend and a source of much local tractor wisdom. It's been a very long year, but time rolls on, and I need to return to my orange projects. Right now I'm focused on bringing my rotobaler back to life - I'm hoping that will fan those orange flames! :) In any case, my apology for disappearing - mostly - for the last year. It's good to be back home. Dave

Just saw that you are getting your roto-bailer back to life. Be certain to get a manual. There are several simple but very criticial adjustments that make the bailer work properly.
Good Luck! Bill Long

Welcome back but be careful, if your roto baler is the least bit out of adjustment you will expand your vocabulary.

Thanks to all my old friends and the "newbies" who added a welcome. Good to hear from all of you. :)
I do have a manual for the roto-baler, also the booklet published by the Upper Midwest AC Club. I will be very careful to restrain - or try to - the expansion of my vocabulary! I've also visited with Gary Agrimson and have a set of his twine tube springs.... and a few other goodies to help get me on the way.

Maybe this is obvious to most of us, but maybe not common knowlege to the younger guys. Always use BINDER TWINE in these rotobalers. If you dont, you will have trouble! Dad had one from 1948 until his death in 1997. It would not work properly with baler twine. Most of the people @ Rural King and Tractor Supply dont know the difference. EDUCATE THEM! Just a word of experience. I have handled a few round bales! Good Luck

Dave,
Glad you are back. Was a little worried about you, but saw you were travelling a bit, so I figured you were just away from the computer.
You might be interested to know that as of last week, the last few pieces needed to resurrect B#119 are home, so maybe someday soon the carcass you hosted will be resurrected!

Jay, thanks for the reminder about the twine - I have a small supply of binder twine that I found in Ohio - no baler twine in this machine! Dave

Nice to be missed - especially by this family. :)
Jim, the roto-baler was made in 1955 and needs new belts. The pick-up is half rotted out and the whole machine badly needs to be painted. That's the bad news! Now, the good news is that I have a new set of lower belts....and another pick-up that came from out west (another story!). I think the half-dead one and the "new" one will make one decent pick-up. Got a guy coming tomorrow to give me an estimate on sandblasting the machine...which will mean protecting the bearings and bushings, pulling the rubber rollers, etc. So this project is turning into a significant investment of time and money, but that's okay. I want to preserve it and get it to the point where I can actually bale with it....just will need to convince the next generation that's taking over my buddy's farm that they really NEED some round bales!
