Thanks guys! wfmurry, He used to dual it up every year when he farmed before my time, never had any trouble with it. We never had much use to dual it up until this year. I always wanted to see what it looked like but never wanted to put the effort in it just to see what it looked like. With the wet conditions this year we figured it would be a good idea atleast to reduce compaction.

It would be well worth the effort to pull the top cover off and check out the bearing for the rear of the output shaft in the tranny case when you have some time. That's one bearing you definitely don't want to go out on ya, and it will if you put a lot of strain on it for an extended period of time. At the very least, now that you already have it dualled up, make sure the tranny and rear end fluid is up where it needs to be.

We put duals on our D19 way back in 1966 and worked it hard for years with no problems. They were clamp ons.

I used to run duals on my D19 and pulled an 18 1/2 foot 1200 digger with no problems. I always felt it was easier on the tractor as the ride was much smoother and I wasn't spinning the differential like I was before the duals.

The only way he would have rear end troubles is if there is something already wrong or about to go. When I was a kid duals went on everything in the spring. We didn't have a 19 but had about everything else.

May have come on a little harsh about dueling up but i was thinking you was doing it to pull bigger and heaver equipment.

The D19 doesnt get worked hard anymore with or with out the duals. All it does is pull the fertlizer buggy or a 13ft disc in the field, plus various other little jobs around. It hasnt been the "big" tractor for a while. I guess I got in a hurry typing before, dad corrected me, He has owned it for 37 years and it hasnt been dualed up in 31. Im glad everyone enjoyed the pics |

Just out of curiousity why would you think duals would cause more wear and tear than say weighting the tractor? The dual are for flotation and for traction you add weight. Typically with duals we run a field cultivator or disk or lighter draft implements and for plowing or sub soiling we add weight for traction.

Dave, surely your kidding that duals don't add traction ? Duals give you much more traction !
