I have a "Reversed" Allis Chalmers WD45. I was out running it (playing) and then I parked it for about a half hour and then it would not start.
It would try to run but it was really rough, it is not the carburetor or the magneto, someone told me to check the rocker arms on the valves. Well I got the valve cover off today, the rockers seem to be loose?, where the rockers push on the valve spring the end is in a "U" shape? shouldn't they be flat? I have added some pictures. I have never done anything with valves or any thing that involves engines LOL so the more help the better. Thanks for any advice. I don't see anything wrong with those valves, and unless something broke, when you shut it off, that is not the reason it won't run. I would normally say since you have the cover off, adjust the valves, but that is suppose to be done hot, so you are out of luck, but don't put the nuts back on, and then when you find the real problem for why it doesn't run, then you can go set the valves, before you seal her up again. They do get a little loose over the years as things wear a bit.

Must have been posting pics while I was typing, the second post, the valves do look a little more loose than they should be, but still not going to be your problem. How do you know it's not the mag, or the carb? Running rough, could mean something started plugging something up in the carb, or bad parts on the ignition side. I am leaning toward a condensor, or crud in the carb. Maybe something real simple like a grounded wire, or fouled plugs |

You can set them cold at .015 and never look back.

Our were offset like that and worn a decent amount too. Cleaned them up with a DA sander. Had about 1/8" valve gap when we got the tractor... so they'll like that. Complete head rebuild and set the valves cold. Still within spec after 10 hours. A few of those cast stands for the rocker assembly were cracked. Stick/Cast welded them and they still looked good too. Might want to check them while you have it off.
