Was looking at the registry for RW's D17, and then ended up looking at the WD45 registry to see how close I could find one to my 45D. Ended up finding out that Gary Peterson in Langdon, ND has serial number 203329D. Mine is serial number 203322D, so they were only 7 places apart on the assembly line. Was wondering how many of you have tractors that the serial numbers are very close or know where their brothers or sisters live?

Off color but my buddy had a John Deere g and then he went to a sale and bought another g, and when he got it home and went to look at the serial# and he found out that it was 1 number higher than his other one so now he has 2 consecutive serial# g's.

At our Waverly Nebraska tractor show 2 years back, a fellow had two D17s. He bought them from two different farmers who were immediate neighbors. Sure enough, they were consecutive serial numbers!

I would think the further away from WI, the greater the chances of finding consecutive numbers as they probably loaded a rail car or ship right off the assembly line....

Went to an auction just over a year ago and there was an M7 snowcat that was serial number 120, and the serial number on ours is 121. Oh and not to mention the auction was roughly 15 miles away, and considering only 291 were built.

I've had the chance to buy 37 and 38 but you gotta stop somewhere. Also know where 6439 is. As Eldon has said, more chance to have consecutive numbers in shipments for overseas countries. I think shipments of 10 units came to NZ |

I was at the 2004 GOTO in NY, and there was an IB there that was one number apart from mine. Turns out we both got them from the same scrap pile, he passed mine over because the one he took looked better.

Again, off color but worth mentioning. A fellow member of our tractor club, someone I did not know at the time, called me several years ago to ask if I'd bring an orange tractor to their local parade. As we talked, Ralph told me about the JD styled A that he was restoring. Then he told me about the parts tractor he was using for the resto. Then he told me that they had consecutive serial nos. I suggeseted that he might want to reconsider parting out the second A. He eventually saw the point and is finishing the restoration of the mate. He bought these from sources about 200 miles apart in Maine but I'd bet they came to one dealer on the same flat car. Bob@allisdowneast

I think I've mentioned on here before I traded what I thought was RC46 privately on my 175D. When the 175 was unloaded & the RC loaded the man's son said" Dad you are not going to believe this, its number 146" I apologized thinking they might have been upset. They were happy because they had #147 at home. They display them at Shows as "Sisters"...Harvey
P.S. if that WD above is a male, does that mean the ones with a snap coupler bell are females???
