Guys,
Pictures of my 1948 WD with the new pulling tires and wheels. Went from 14.9-28 (currently on sale on E-Bay!) to 15.5-38 - largest tires allowed in the classes I run. I know, new tires do not pull the best on all tracks. I tried to find a used set of 15.5s, but could not. Cutting them is not allowed. I'll give them a try this year and see how things turn out. I have read where you can drag the tractor down the road faster than the tires are turning to wear the lugs down, but I'll give them a try as is first. Need to mount the fenders also, but they need a LOT of body work. Needed to redo the wheelie bars, hitch, and fender brackets to get everything back in the right place. Axle is 6" higher than before. Goes down the road a lot faster too.

That is a very well restored tractor. Looks great. I am also from Wi but i am from Soldiers Grove. not anywere close to Kiel...haha. Im doing the same set up with my WD only running 13.6x38s on mine. just to see how they work out. this year will be a trial and error year with this tractor to see if it is up to par with my last build...
anways just wanted to say how much i like your tractor. Might give me a few ideas for mine down the road when it gets its new paint job.

Hey that tractor looks familiar!! Are you coming back down here for the two county pulls? I am working on a WC for pulling but I don't know if I'll have it done this year. I might have it up and running but not painted. Pretty rusty right now, might have to call it "Tetnis shot". If I remember right, you did pretty good at the Ozaukee County Fair in the 4500 class. I tried weighting up to the 6000 with my 45d. I might end up using it again if I dont get the WC done.

I like that. Where did you get those 38" wheels?

d17brown - NICE!
Chuck - Yes, it will be good to get back at things once all of the snow stops falling.
All - Yes, some engine work, but it still runs stock RPMs. Biggest thing is compression increase with a WD45 crank. Horsepower was not my problem - traction was.

jayIN, Wheels were custom made. They took a 14" wide rim and welded in the centers at the offset I specified. Then, powder coated them Silver. The centers are 1/2" thick steel. The wheels and tires each weigh 130# more then the original 14.8-28s with spin outs. I'll have to run one less wheel weight. |
