 Topic: Seed selector plates for drill planter

I was wondering how many people had a set of seed selector plates( besides Fred) for the Drill Planter? I have 2 or 3 sets that were found cleaning out Dad's shed. I know a couple of others have post pics or answers to questions on plates so there must be some.

We have a pair, Dad used them every year (one of his things) until we got a JD 7000. Funny thing, he always ordered med flats and he always chose the same plate after checking the selector plate.

My Dad did the same, claimed there was a sizing difference the seed corn companies would use

It's really hard to get well graded seed corn anymore, you usually have to go down one plate size to get a good population. The seed corn companies like to sell seed.

The first Fertilizer plant I ran was in 1982 and the plates weren't used very much back then. I had over 100 at that time. I'd bet they are all long gone in the garbage dump. They were JD but adaptable to the drill planters I believe.

I have a 5 gallon pail full of old plates that came with a 4 row SC planter I junked out 30 years ago. I don't know what kind of plates they are though. May be JD ??????
