Nice find, I really like the way the single fronts look on a tractor.

I have never driven a SFW, do they steer easer?  They should not have the "kickback" on uneven ground like a standard two wheel narrow front.

Bill, have you ever weighed the single wheel setup and compared it to a normal narrow front?   I wonder if it's lighter or heavier?   Seems to be a hair less metal up front but that wheel and hub looks pretty stought.

One more question, does the single front wheel setup bolt right up to a WD/WD45 wide front bolster like a picker narrow front does, with the five bolts or does it have it's own special bolster?

Yes, the single fronts and the tricycle adapters bolt on using the same 5 bolts.  Michael

The weight of  just the fork , cast  wheel center, and tire is about 202-5  lbs. I just weighed the cast piece that goes between the frame rails, 137 lbs. So the total weight of a SFW front end  342 lbs +/-. This the bolt on fork type.
Have a good one  BILL

The last single wheel setup is different...I have to change the whole front pedestal with it.  I also have front hubs that are solid steel and one that is pressed steel.  The pressed steel has a yoke that looks like Bills.

Eldon. If you have a single front for a W series tractor that is one piece where you have to change the whole front pedestal, it will be from a WC or early WD. They are hard to find.
Nothing is impossible if it is properly financed

Just checked and both of my WD single fronts are that way....probably rarer because they came from the factory that way, whereas the others probably could have been bought to convert a wide front tractor when being used with a mounted picker?? Just a theory.....

The WC and early WD single fronts are what I call non detachable.  They are a true single front, you can't switch to a wide or tricycle without switching out the bolster.  Also the yoke is about one inch narrower that the tire, so to get the tire off you have to deflate it and even then it is hard to get out.  On the later WD and all WD45 single fronts, they are just a bolt on to any of the standard wide front ends. So definitely, the non detchable single fronts are more scarce and sought after if you have a WC or early WD.  I don't recall if I have seen any serial number breaks on when they changed from the early to later style.

I found my IT manual and it shows the 2 different styles. The s/n break on the WD is at 25129, but the one WD I have is 75xxx, so I would guess someone did some changing somewhere along the line.  I also noticed that that tractor had cultivator brackets on the front at one time, the seller had told me his dad was from the midwest and had owned the tractor a long time.  I bet he hauled it out this way and converted it for veggies...
