Appears to be a fair deal. I'd be cautious though...

Check to make sure its not a "Paint-to-sell" paint job. Nothing is worst then finding paint over top of rust. The seat is also incorrect and almost looks as if it is too low? It all depends on what your intentions are with it. If your using it as a work tractor, and you don't mind certain things on it, IE the seat or the way the paint job was done, it seems like its a good buy. If your buying it to restore, go over it with a fine tooth comb. Like I said, nothing is worse then stripping paint that is over top of rust, and that is only the start of it.

I have a boy that is twelve years old and thought this would make a good one for him to learn on. Plus I could use it in the truck garden as will. Kind of brings back memories of my first drive on the 38 B but I was ten.

Looks to be a nice tractor, if you are buying it to teach your son, it can always be a father and son restoration to your likings down the road, thats what i am doing with my 49 WD, tractors come and go , but the memories you will have from teaching your son will last forever.

I wouldn't say it is a steal by any means, but might be fair.  Like Morton said, the seat is not original.
It looks like it has been switched to an alternator from the original generator (can be good or bad, depending on what you want).
If the radiator needs fixing, there goes a 100$.  
Rear fenders been cut off in the back?
Missing battery box top and side.
To me 900$ might be a touch too high, but I'm cheep, and seeing in person is a big difference.   A C is a good tractor to start on, it was my first tractor!

Not sure about the price, but it looks to be mostly there. Fenders look like that because rockshafts and lift links are removed. Also, seat looks to be a Monroe-matic. Heard it was a dealer option. Doesn't appear to have been badly butchered, but not a lot of detail in the photos.

I disagree with Dream on the back fenders.  They have been bobbed for some reason.  I have a pallet full of C fenders and they aren't quite that short in the back.  I'm always cautious of fresh paint and professionel reselers. Looks fair but proceed with cation.

Drove over 200 miles to look at it and found it not impressing. First of all it would not start because the gas tank was plugged up. then I seen water dripping out of air breather,(full of water). they put a jumper tank on it to jump it, but the starter would not engage. After inspection realized the ring gear was bad. And yes it had one of those quicky paint jobs on it(two different colors. The only plus I seen was that it had a 3 point lift. they would not jew, so I will keep looking.

I'm wondering, if someone got the tractor with the monroe seat option from the factory, it means that the frame for the bench seat and backrest would be taken out. Did they just leave the frames on each side to attach the fenders to, or did they have a completely different way of mounting the fenders? Never seen one up close. This tractor may be a farm-fixed monroe seat modification. If it is, all bets are off on what has been done. Just be careful and look it over thoroughly.

Hmm, I think they would have to come down an awefull lot with all of those issues. You made the right decision leaving that one there IMHO.

The Monroe seat was an aftermarket seat, not a factory option. The bench seat was standard. Bob

That's not the monroe seat either.
$200 tractor.  Shame they spent $20 on paint and $20 on decals.  Would have been worth $250 before that.

I don't think that seat is even close to the Monroe seat. All just looks like it has been cobbled together. Yes, I would say the fenders have been trimmed. Still has the brackets for the original rear lift arms bolted to the finals.

JimD, shame on me wasting $70 dollars going and looking at it. it was a bigger shame when I stopped at the gas station and seen a little Gleaner headed for the scrap yard. what was real depressing was the fact it had a replacement engine on it that the old boy said still turned over.
