If I convert my manual wide front Series I to power steering, I know I need the pump, control valve, actuator, lines etc. but the idler gear inside the front pedestal (between the actuator rack and the sector gear) - was that put in all pedestals or just the power steering ones?  Someone mentioned they thought the idler gear was put in the manual units as well so they could be easily converted to power steering........anyone done this?

Anything else I should look for or know about?

Cheers,

Creek

Creek, The idler gear was not put in the manual ones, The best way to convert is to change the front bolster with one set up for PS. Your series I would have the pump in between the distributer and the govenor, It's not all that bad of job if you have all the parts, if you are missing a few you might have quite a time finding them.
