I called my local agco dealer about a throttle shaft for a zenith carb and he wasnt very interested , he just told me it didnt exist anymore so buy a new or rebuilt  carb. The other agco dealer about 25 miles away, when asking about a simple set of wires and cap for a 190, he looked at me like i was from a different planet, no luck there nether.Maybe nobody makes them anymore but i see fleet farm sells them. frustrating  oh well.

They just want you to buy a new tractor, they dont want to mess around with the old tractors anymore, which is so stupid.

Try Sandy Lakes or Dean Ag services.  Both advertise on this web site and have been very helpful for me in the past.  Den

I have got parts from Dean AG before and they are the BEST in my opinion, they do everything they can to try to find what you need, My local dealers used to be good before Caterpillar merged with them.

Its big problem you have to deal with. The dealer in my area doesnt know what the heck you're talking about and then tells ya that it never was put on the machine. Some of the dealers gave up since they dropped the orange.

There are dealers out there that do sell and keep parts for the old tractors on hand such as where I work.  But we are keeping less parts on hand but do our best to get the parts to the customers.  A few weeks ago I had a customer come in and get a few parts for a D19(rear main seal, v.c. gasket and points and condenser).  He grinned when he saw we had them all on hand and told me how he was at the local CaseIH dealer and they did not have an air filter for a late model 1840 Case loader on hand!!!!

We have to face the facts that these tractors are getting old and there are less and less of them out running on a daily basis.  I am considering ourselves lucky that we can still get what we can.  I keep as many A-C parts on hand as I can but if I havent sold a particular number for around three years I am not going to stock it as we need to be making room for newer machines.

So remember some dealers are not doing much for A-C parts but there are a still a few us out there yet.  Such as Olddoug at Manzers, Sandy Lake, and Dean AG.

I dont care for negative comments about dealers that dont stock parts when I put so much time into keeping parts around and trying my best to help guys out.

If your not having luck at a dealer, find another one!  Mail order is not that common anymore, get setup with a dealer that can get you parts.

JimIA, I don't try to bash dealers. Down here it is a trip to even get to an AGCO dealer and then find they won't even bother to look up the parts nor order. Timeshave changed and now dealers can carry this but not that. It's gets confusing. However, all that said, the internet is a wonderful thing. I can get any part needed, usually with only a phone call or email, price is good, and shipping usually only 3 days. You are lucky to be in an area where there are a lot of Allis's left and I congratulate you on being able to help feed our fever. Sure hope this weather were having down here spreads north soon. Too many people are in the dumps and spring weather will most assuredly help the complaints and grouchiness of most of us. LOL  God Bless

This is why I decided to keep my D12 and 10. Parts supply today and tomorrow will be for compact, or new large tractors. They no that a person is not going to farm big with an old large tractor.

I have had a problem with my local dealer as well, main thing is not knowing what you want, and where to look.  I find that it really helps if you can have a part number from an old parts book, or from the online AGCO parts book, then at least that can be pumped into the computer to see if it is still produced.  I don't let them away with much, as I have a bit of parts counter experience, and know where to look.

I have a friend who can't say enough good about DeanAg. I have never dealt with them myself, would in a heartbeat if needed. Brenda/Barb @ Sandy Lake are evry good at there job, A phone call away and parts are shipped that day, doesn't get much better, save on fule cost, correct parts, etc, ect, actually toooo easy!!

The 'local' AGCO dealer up near Guelph, about 33 minutes from me, STILL has not emailed me back about a couple of D-14 items..since early last FALL !!! After 3 weeks, I went online to Sandy Lake Imp. and 1 week later had the parts in my hands !
I'd given them 4 emails about what I wanted, part numbers, references to Dealer Parts Books pages, item number ,etc.
Seems the delaers couldn't care less about a few hundred dollars in sales....
Similar thing happend with the local Toro dealer( huge in the 'other' orange tractors and litterally within walking distance to me. Needed a water pump for a Toro rider, they're price was $500.Went on line and found a company in Georgia that shipped it to me WITH the gaskets, for $125.
And 'they' wonder why their sales are lousy ???

The problem is the attitued of the parts person. my brother is an AGCO dealer and some of his parts people have no idea of where to look for parts for anything older then 20 years old or anything that doesn't have a model and serial number. however he has one parts person that can find anything for everything most of the time and she is constantly overwelmed with work.

And of course there is the fact that AGCO is not providing training for pre 1990
don't get me wrong his other parts people will try to help they just don't have the training or experiance.

I was at the AGCO dealer I mostly go at this past weekend, (Scott Implement Platteville).  Their nice people and as for me have found parts for me in the past.  Maybe it was their upcoming sale and maybe it was cause they were busy but it didn't seem the same.  I sympathized with the salesman there as I've had my AGCO up for sale and have had one guy come close and several tire kickers and it gets old after awhile.  And, maybe it's just me, but every time I go I hear about someone not buying it cause it says Massey.  While I agree with the orange people I can also sympathize with the dealers.  They've gone through a lot of changes too and I imagine some of them are getting tired of it.

As far as parts I don't understand why some dealers don't want to look for them.  It's my understanding that most make a higher percentage on parts than they do on new equipment by a lot.
