Guys what was the latest tractor to use the 301 engine? 8030?? Can a 190XT Series III engine be made to produce 8010/8030 hp by rebuilding it with components from that tractor.(pistons, turbo, injectors, inj. pump ect) Just thinking out load for tractor pulling purposes. Need to stay below 1970 model year, also needs to remain stock looking.

a 7020 ran an inner cooler if memory serves correctly. I think it was the only 301 with one.

Don I'm not so sure you will gain anything by using the newer stuff. Only the 7020 had the intercooler and I'm not sure that would gain any horsepower in a tractor pull, it certainly would if you were out doing field work all day. Police your rules you should be the only tractor under 10,000 lbs. with a turbo. The ringer is the Ford 9000 with its fiberglass rear fender in-line Simms injector pump and a turbo. My brother pulls a Series III and the biggest problem we see is the extremely heavy cast front pedistal. I read somewhere the 200 support is as much as 500lbs lighter. Has anyone on this sight ever measured the difference? Dr. Allis or Ed can give a lot more details on the turbos and fuel systems than me. Make the rules right 806/856's IH's, 4020JD's, G900 MM's, 1100MF's, 1850 Olivers and 930 Cases and Ford 8000's never had turbo's so the best of them probably the 856 IH could hit 125 horse max. Also ACD21's, 1206/1256's, 1950 Oliver, MF 1105's, Ford 9000's all have turbo's and are easily capable of over 200 horses, but they sure don't look stock anymore when the weigh 7,500lbs like a 190XT can. use the 190 components. mark II heads use copper tubes for the injector holes in the head, and dont tolerate much boost. I can build you a fuel system to put out lots more power using the stock components as cores. 7000's and up to early 8010's went to a DM Roosa pump, great heavy duty pump, but can do more with the DB that is on a 190 already. later 8010's went to the AMBAC model 100 like 8030, 8050, 8070 etc, and IH's. It's all about fuel delivery, and air flow! Maybe a turbo from later tractor might help, but I would put a 210/220 turbo on mine. Not sure you'll be able to spin a 3LM466. need more rule info, and your intentions. Ed.

I have a series II that needs engine work(locked up) I plan to repair sometime down the road, but will sell it as is. I plan to hop it up some with a hot pump, lazered injectors, and a bigger turbo, as well as fixing the locked up problem! LOL! It is an open station 1968. I have pics on my phone, so pm me a cell # if you want a pic. Thanks, Ed.

One really big differance is the oiling system. The 190 has the cam driven oil pump. The later had the crank driven pump and the cooling jets to the pistons.
You can make the HP, but life the is shorter.
