I have seen 45's with orange front and rear wheels, off-white front & rear wheels, and some mixed.  Am assuming this varied by year of production.

Would appreciate someone posting color schemes vs. year of manufacture.

tks.............O_O

Why is there never time to do it right the first time, but always time to go back and fix it?

All WDs should have wheels the same color as the tractor which would be persian orange#1. The rims are the galvanized hammered silver look. I cant fault you because both our WDs wheels were painted cream by my father many years ago!! Ryan

All WD's and WD45's had the rear rims galvanized. The fronts rims were PO1 along with most of the rest of the tractor. The headlights were black and possibly some generators.
Here is a thread with some discussion on paint, wheels and decals.  Charlie

45s were entirely Persian Orange #1 from the factory, with galvanized rear rims. The lights, generator, even the steering wheel were sprayed orange-this would be a correct restoration. When the D-series came out, some dealers would paint unsold WD45s in the D-series color scheme of cream wheels and Persian Orange #2 as a way of "modernizing" them. Some farmers did this to their own tractors as well, which explains the range of colors.

Bill, I have seen many "original " tractors with black headlights, mine being one of them. There is a factory film clip on Youtube that shows the headlights taped off while the tractor is being painted. There are also films of the WD driving out off the assembly line with a black generator. These are both clips from the West Allis plant.

Like Charlie said above WD/WD45 where all painted PO #1 but the lights, generator where black. Here is a shot of one of my WD45's that has not been repainted; This will start something too, If the WD45 had power steering installed at the factory the Allis Chalmers decals moved back on the hood like in the pic. Don, I never noticed the decal placement before. My 1954WD45 has factory PS added so it has the decals like your cultivator tractor. Charlie

That's very interesting, I wonder what the reasoning behind that was? As far as steering wheels and generators go, I distinctly remember there was a discussion a while back about how the factory didn't take the time to mask off the tractors, so everything got sprayed orange. Someone even posted an old picture of a brand new one being delivered, maybe just the WDs were done this way?

Bill,
I just guessing on the generators not getting painted was because to much paint might get inside them and short them out. Don

Charlie I was told about the decals being setback on factory installed power steering tractors by the old dealer years ago, The same guy came by my place to look at my toys and brought it up about them again after he looked at my three with power steering on them, Jimmy also said that more WD/WD45 tractors got them put on by dealers that left the factory with them. It's very possible that the lights, generator, and starter were left off the tractor until after paint, and since they all came from different companies were shipped to the factory painted black.
