 Topic: Hydraulic cylinder seals

Have an issue with my hydraulic cylinders leaking and need to replace the seals. I have already tightened the packing and still leaking. I was hoping someone may know where I can obtain new ones to rebuild them. Here are some pictures of them. I think the number in the first one is 2000139  The second one I think is 2030085  I don't have access to the tractor right now so I can't be 100% sure it is correct. Didn't help I took them with my cell phone either. Here is a picture of the full cylinder.  Thanks!

is that a D17 loader? i have one and the one cylinder has little leak.

The loader is for a D14. It's a freeman trip loader I believe.

ok yeah it looks the same as the one on my D17, but my loaders ID tag says its a allis chalmers loader, which is probably the same as a freeman.

Single action ram ? could have v ring packing at shaft end. or could be leather U cup packing or even O ring or square ring. All should be avalable at hyd shop in bulk or once you have it apart you might find it in McMaster Carr catalog.

Jeff, where abouts are you? There aren't any farms in Toronto (that I've seen). A good hydraulic shop should be able to fix them up. I have a place in Bowmanville that I take my cylinders to.

I repacked the cylinder on my D15 and all that in there is V ring packings. I got mine from Agco but you can get them at any hydraulic shop or Mc Master Carr Matt

I have a very good friend who told me to use the AC packing when I rebuilt my cylinders, it is due to the use of cloth in the cylinder packing. If can get AC packing, use it, mine used 4 per cylinder, the AC part number is 72000650. Here is a link to my pictures, select slide show and all the pictures are labeled. Give me a P.M. if your not sure about something. Check with the AC dealers on this site, they can set you up with everything you need.

I use Martin fluid power in St.Jo,MI 1-800-637-7856 ( stjo@mfpseals.com) for work and home. I rebuilt a cyl. for a freeman on a H and rod was pitted real bad so I went to W packing instead of V. You can get almost double the sealing surface that way. They were really rams so the rod packing is holding all the pressure. Yours kinda looks like there is a rod wiper or it could just be a brass bushing to help hold rod in center so it maybe a u-cup seal, if it is I would use a polypack instead of a u-cup because they will sweeze the rod a little harder.

4 V's are rated up to 3000 PSI and 6 W's are rated up to 8000 PSI wich you will probly get more than 6 w's into the space of the cyl. that had four V's. The ratings are from Martin Fluid power book.

When I wanted to repair my WD-45 lift cylinders and remote ram, I got the appropriate seal kit from Sandy Lake Implement (one of the sponsors on this site). I recommend them.

I just got a set of seals for mine recently from Tony Carbaugh on this site. Also included the wiper seal.

Well my Tractor is sitting at farm with my family near Ottawa. Looks like I will be going there in a month and I will pull off the cap and see what I have. Currently I have already tightened the cap but have some fluid seeping out the wiper. It is kinda pitted so I will need to factor that in. Thanks for the help.
