Drove a GMC similar to that that was a tandem with a 6-71 Detroit and 10 speed roadranger . When was running Chicago with it hauling livestock or freight would keep up with most of the CF trucks then ..

That is a cool truck Jamie. I think I saw that when I was there a couple of years ago. I always called them cab-overs as well. If that is the one I saw, I said something to your dad about how cool that truck was.

That was the big dog of the day(261) just can't remember when they started building it.54 could be the first year.
Chevy called them a "cab foward"
Seen that body on a late model chassis all dolled up used as a car hauler.Pretty cool! Edited by Steve M C/IL - 24 Jan 2011 at 7:37pm |

I had one like that with an Oliver manure spreader on it. Sold it a few years ago to a guy wanting to put a big block in it to haul a race car. Don't know if it happened or not.
I've had a '63 Chevy C90 for 35 years. Has a 6V53, 5 and 2. Was a car hauler for the first 12 years of it's life, 7 cars at a time. Been sitting at the farm with a shed chained onto the bed for the last 7 years, maybe I'll get the shed on a foundation and run the truck again someday soon... |

I always dreamed of getting one of those and setting it on a late model one ton 4X4 chassis!

I always wanted to transplant one of them on a modern 3500 chassis with a duramax-allison setup and a rollback. Would make a good hotrod/tractor hauler.

Jamie, Very nice. When I was a kid (long time ago) in a small farming town in upstate NY, the local oil dealer added one of those with an oil tank to his fleet.Called it the King of the Fleet. It would have been mid fifties. Bob@allisdowneast

Here's a picture of my project that is shelf aging. It's a 1963 C500. I'm planning to make a hauler also. The tank has been removed.

Most of those were called COE's. (Cab Over Express) Ford, Dodge, GM/Chevy all had em'. Some of the Streetrodders make car carriers out of them based off a late model dually chassis. Some of em' at the shows are outstanding, especially when they come in with say a 34 Coupe on the back of it!

Here's our wire hauler when we pick up wire for our harnesses. That's when I can pry JoAnna out of it to take it to the warehouse! Funny, whenever I get in it to go somewhere, there's never any gas in it. Must be evaporating or somethin'..... Sheesh! Steve@B&B

That '63 Ford is a N500. The C models were the tiltcabs. I had a '64 N700 for a while back in the 70's.
