Thank You! Thank You!! Thank You!! You are saving history.
I see you are from Maryland. Any dealer stickers on the equipment. Just wondering where they were sold. I may have known the dealer.
Thanks Again!
Good Luck!

Bravo! I can't believe anyone would even consider scrapping such complete tractors. We truly are in a "throw away" society. Kinda turns my stomach! Thank you for saving them.

What a find! There's got to be a good story about how you came about saving them.

I have to agree that is an AWESOME find. I don't know why someone would scrap that. Now if only I could find someone taking a load of good ACs to the scrapper that I could get real cheap.

Great save there! Got to know what it cost for the saving part and how you worked it out with the yard scrapper. Just curious, and I know there are others that would like to know also on here. I've got two yards by me that I left my cell# with just in case they run into some dummy that doesn't know what these pieces of history mean to us collectors. Inquiring minds would like to know... don't have to, if you would rather not, but I hope you made out great on the save!!

Oh well, I won't do that again!

Thanks Guys I think this is a one in a life time find! About 8 miles from home, gentleman was cleaning out his barn and taking evrything to the scrap yard. A friend of ours seen the tractors and called, we were thinking junk but maybe something we should look at, you can imagine our surprise when we got there. The D 17 needs a rim but I think the tire, although has been sitting flat for a while can be saved. My son will keep the 17 and fix it up,I'm taking the rops and fenders off and putting on my 180,( they come off a 185) he had the original fenders for the 17 in the back of the barn( like new). The little C and the plows might be for sale if any interest, I'll post once I have a chance to look them over. As for the price I paid, I won't say, but it was less then scrap value. The gentleman was happy someone wanted them and saved him from hauling. Bill Long, I'm pretty sure the D 17 was purchased from Coppage Implement in Great Mills. The C could have been also. Rick, I think that little C would look good sitting beside your B!!! Come by and check it out!! |

Thanks for the Dealer Information.
Yes, I remember Coppage Implement well. I can't tell you how many trips I made there to pick up equipment. One time the truck died and I had to have my good friend Warren Grimm come and pick me up at A C. Youngs in Upper Marlboro. I think I was carrying a rake at the time.
Good Luck!

I cannot stand it when someone scraps machinery! Part it out if you must, but it's best to sell complete. Every time something gets scrapped, it's gone forever! I only scrap stuff I know is junk beyond repair, blocks and cranks or heads that are broken from a catastrophic failure. Ed.

Awesome save! Hard to believe someone would just throw those away. Hope someone makes a home for the little C. I kinda have a soft spot for those.

I didn't do it! It was a short, fat, tall, skinny guy that looked like me!
