I bought a wrench but it had no handle, can some one help me out with what type of steel rod and maybe a picture.

I want to know how loose the eccenterics have to be for that hand wrench to work. I need my impact and/or a 1/2 drive breaker bar to make mine turn. Someday I'm gonna take them off and clean them up nice so something like the correct wrench will work them. Then I'll need to find the correct wrench.

That's the one, how long is the bar? and is the end flattened so it woun't slide all the way threw the wrench?

Aaron, Dad tells me they only worked for a short time, when the tractor was new LOL!Danny, the rod is approximately 1 inch shorter than the wrench, and, yes, the one end is flattened!

Thats what I'm thinking. I see them do it on the old videos and it looks like my 3 1/2 year old could run the wrench. Anyone here farm with them new remember moving the wheels as much as they say in the videos?

I still use a set with my '45 to move the wheels in and out a couple of times a year. Move them in for the plow and in the winter with the blade. Move them out in the spring for the planter and cultivator. Everything moves properly. The tractor was always shedded, so that may help. Dave

Danny, I use a tire spoon bar for my bar, they are longer than the right bar and give more leverage. Not just use a plain old piece of round bar like re-bar they are not strong enough and will just bend. I've been there tried that. lol

I move mine out for the blade (more room for the chains) and in in the summer. Mine has been inside as well, but it takes an impact to get mine to move. I just need to take them off and clean them up good.

My WD45 lasts has been dissasembled and painted I can move with a 1/2 Inch ratchet and socket. the Othe tractor I couldn't move with a 3/4 breaker bar with a 4 ft. cheater. I did manage to sanp one off though.

Back in the early 70's we had 4 of then,( 2 17's 2 45's ) that we we had to move in and out twice a year. I was only about 10 or 12 when I was tapped to do one of them myself. The onlly thing we used back then was the wheel wrench in the tool box. The biggest deal was catching h#ll for not getting the rear wheels straight. And I mean STRAIGHT ! Looking back I suppose it was just another lesson on doing a job the right way..

I think some of the replacement rims are a little tighter, too. Some tractors there is no way to get all four locked all the way without breaking something.

I have a feeling that's what I'm going to run into with my rim. It's hard to get the hub into the eccentrics so it could be tricky getting them tight. After spraying PB Blaster around the head of the eccentric and after about an hour of turning with a breaker bar, I can turn mine with my fingers and when they're on, with the wheel wrench.
