Latest project finished - then found a leak from the PTO mechanical shifter shaft - this has Hydraulic shift PTO - it was a change order unit probably. After lamenting the splitting we tried an alternative. With the correct O ring we stretched it over the arm - took 3 tries as rough edges popped 2 - and when around the lever we pried out on the shifter and the o ring snapped around the shaft pinching the o ring between the housing and shifter like a gasket. Since this shifter never moves we thought it worth a try - after 2 days - so far so good!  Yes it is a 'patch' but if it holds - it's worth a grand.. anyone notice anything else unique on the unit?

Good looking 185 reminds me of one we had it had the crop hustler badging and the horizontal stripes below 185
Great tractor one of the best Allis made I think
Years ago when we worked our ground before planting we had a 7010 that dad drove with a 10 shank chisel plow and I’d follow with the 185 and a 13 foot 2300 disc and I was working one night and when you’d get that 301 in a hard pull coming up out of a swag in the field there would be a small flame coming out the exhaust and the exhaust manifold would turn cherry red and you could light a cigarette off it
It would do the same blowing silage with that 185
Oh the memories

No big deal - I had a salvage 175 throttle - just tack, heat and bend to liking - the other one I have at the house was made out of square stock and was a tad longer - the county fair puller of the 70's

At some point in the past I bought a turbo manifold I was going to install on my 185. Have since gotten over that idea, will just leave things the way they are. Seemed to never have the time to tackle a project like that. Then when the 856 (with M&W turbo) showed up........

I could never understand why after the 190 tractors were introduced AC didn't put the throttle in the side console, maybe even the PD control on all the "100" series tractors. So much more user friendly for the operator.

I've done a couple farm use 180/185 turbo installations years ago. I used the 190XT-200-7000 exhaust manifold to start with. Then, re-clocked the new/rebuilt turbo and mounted it on backwards like the 7030-7060's were. Use the 190XT-200 exhaust pipe cast elbow and straight pipe. This "backwards" installation allows the exhaust pipe to come up thru the existing muffler hole in the hood. It's not centered, but you don't have to do any sheet metal fabs. The turbo oil drain line was a re-fabbed one as was the oil feed hose. The cross over tube is also re-vamped one to reach the compressor nozzle. Air cleaner gets turned around and cut short the tube that goes over the radiator and get a hose or two to connect to the turbo air inlet. If you are working with a used turbo, this is a bad idea as you will never get it clocked. Use 100% of the parts from an XT or 200 and cut a hole in the hood for the ex pipe.
