Not real orange but guess a husqvarna or kubota would hide in shed ! So I'm (looking) for a new zero turn mower 48 to 52"in the 4 to $5k range. Any thoughts on best buys? Leaning toward a Ferris 400s because of suspension system. Getting to an age I no longer enjoy rough rides. Any input appreciated

I've got a Ferris and I love it. The only problem down here is it's a heavy machine and depending on weather, (usually wet) it can cause some problems of not being able to mow because ground is too soft.

If I was buying a zero turn it would definitely be a Ferris. Several friends have them and are extremely impressed. Said they are built well and mow great.

I bought a 61" Simplicity 6 years ago. Mostly because I have a very good local dealer, was Allis Chalmers. Have not been sorry.

I bought an older (2010) Bad Boy. Nice machine, easy to work on. No major problems yet. Had it going on 4 years now. The fellow I bought it from took real nice care of it since new. Always ran Royal Purple synthetic in it (which I also do) He bought a new Bad Boy Maverick with the suspension and loves it he told me. The one I have has a 27HP Kohler in it and it flys. Cuts that 3.5 acres pretty quick. 60" deck. Hey, and it just happens to be Orange! LOL!

re: rough rides.. I have a 'big jim' lawn roller. 4' wide ,2+' round, 1/4" thick drum !, probably 1000# when filled. We've have so much 'liquid snow' here the past month I pulled it empty over the lawn by garden. Man what a difference !! When (if ?) it EVER stops raining here, I'll 1/2 fill and go over again.
