How do you find out what year the garden tractor is?

The only way to date these is by decoding the serial no on the engine if it is the original engine. This may help

simpletractors.com has some good tables cross referencing AC vs Simplicity and using the serial/model #s off your tractor can get you a good ballpark. That being said, the HB212 was only made for a couple of years-(1971-1972)-I think. The B110/B112 was roughly 1968-1970. The 300/400 series AC L&G came out in 1973 I believe. HTH
