Kevin, my dad has 2 8550's and we have been into the drop boxes. If there ever was anything but a power director in an 8550 it was custom. and the way drop box bolts to the back of the tranny and uses pressurized oil from its passages would make it very difficult. I love them and they are great tractors but honestly not a good tractor for silage pushing.

i did a little more thinking. the power directors are basically the same as in the 2wd tractors just beefed up. so one could possibly bolt up a power shift from a 7060, but probably a long shot. even so, it would never stand up to the power. we use our 7580 to fill silo but its with a rear blade and only once a year. Last year i packed with a RT100 CVT and was able to keep ahead. an AGCOSTAR 4wd would make a nice pit tractor with powershift if you could find one.
we have gotten 8550 parts from
abilene machine
worthington ag parts
mikes equipment
