I'm looking for a governor for the gas engine in my forklift, but do not know who manufactured the engine?
Understand it could be ford or continental or ???? is anyone familiar with these machines?

Morning Amos: Perkins usually had a flat casting block machined into the side of the engine with the identifying numbers of the engine machined into the surface. At least that was the case for the 4-236 in the 715 and 715B series backhoes. The 706 AC Forklift shares some similar components (driveline) to the AC 700 series backhoes so therefore similar.
That said, I would recommend you take a small wire brush and get after the block and hunt around for a Perkins tag or see if you can find the casting it may be buried under grease and oil build-up. HTH's ~ Orangeman

What’s the top of your 706c’s engine look like?
Does it have an overhead valve train with a tin valve cover(ford/Perkins)? Does it have a flat-top cast head with distributor sticking up in center of it(Continental)? My 706b has a transplant flat-head continental in it. Some previous owner probably replaced original Ford engine with it? Continentals are plentiful in the forklift world.
