First I want to say WOW! I just purchased 2 old allis tractors today and just found this site. I"m sure I'll be a regular on here now! It looks like this is the place to be for allis owners.
I just bought a D17 and a D15 today. These are 1 owner tractors and the man who owned them passed away a couple years ago and I was offered the tractors and couldn't pass them up.
The first thing I would like to find is the serial numbers, and I don't know where to look. Keep in mind, these are the first tractors that I have ever owned. I farmed for a few years back in high school (10-12 years ago), but never really tinkered with the antiques since we didn't use them on the large scale row crop farm.
Both of these tractors are narrow front ends and the D15 has a front end loader on it. They were both used up until about a year and a half ago and were both started back in May. I plan to totally restore both tractors eventually, but to begin work on the D17 first.
I will post pictures tomorrow sometime after I get the tractors out of the barn.
Thanks in advance.

Serial numbers are on the bellhousing on the left hand side of the tractor. They are right on the edge that sits on a 45 degree angle or so on the top side. They should start with D15 and D17. I think I might have a picture of mine that I can post that I'll hunt for.
