    Posted: 30 Dec 2010 at 11:03pm
I saw recently the fantastic work that was done with some dealer sign decals, and I started wondering about some decals like these:
This one happens to be on my Dad's Westendorf loader, but it was purchased at basically the same time he bought his Two-Twenty. It also had these decals on it. I repainted a Two-Twenty last summer, and even though it isn't the same tractor, I think it would look good with some of these decals on it.
I think it had, in orange lettering on the picture of the hat under the Allis Chalmers name and above the word service, the  words "Orange Cap". That lettering has faded away.
It should say:
Ness Bros. Impl. Co.
Maxwell, Iowa 50161
(515) 387-3475

Would it be cost prohibitive to reproduce these? I doubt there would be a tremendous demand for any individual dealer name, but maybe the dealer name could be changed per individual requests?
I guess I am just thinking out loud here, to see if there would be any other interest.

I have some of those Orange Cap Service decals NOS for sale $10 each.  They are not the same dealer but the same style of decal.

Let me know if your interested.

Thanks.

I could reproduce them and change the dealers name as needed.  I could do them for about 4.00 ea with a min of 5 per order. All I would need is one of those NOS decals of Oldougs or a good picture of it with no flash reflection.

I am interested in your idea Split51. I don't know how OlDoug would feel about selling a couple of decals and have them copied-he might not like having the competition.....This might be shaky ground. I was familiar with Anderson Impl. in Pocahontas, as they were competitors with the dealer I worked at in the late 80s. I heard the phrase, "I'll go to Pokey, and get it cheaper!" many times. I would prefer having the Ness Bros. Impl. on any decals I would place on my tractor, though. Just a nostalgia thing, I guess.

I am not trying to undercut Oldoug, he has NOS decals which are superior in collectibility anyday. I am only offering a premium reproduction and would not offer a decal with the dealers name he has.
To make this fair, I will only do this if Oldoug will allow me to use his decal to copy from.

I would need some pictures and measurements or an actual set of originals to scan.

Tom Yaz might want to put his own name on a few. That would be pretty cool, if you ask me!

Add my name to the list of wanting dealer decals too. My D17D has one of those on it now from a dealer in Monona Ia.

Well, I PM'ed Oldoug lastnight and got no reply. I will not use his decal picture to reproduce it without his permission.
If anyone on here has one of those decals that is clear enough to be seen in a picture, I can download the photo and clean the artwork up.  It doesnt have to be a new decal, just a reasonable image of one.
