Depressing as it sounds to all of us, I just saw a post by AGCO on Facebook and it showed a picture of the last AGCO tractor to ever be built. They called it a tribute, but the way it was worded they seemed to celebrating it more than anything. I am loosing respect for AGCO more and more and if it weren't for Gleaner, I wouldn't have any for them at all. Thats my 2 cents.

It still makes no sense to me that they would dump the product line that carries their corporation name on it in favor of a couple of brand names that most of us have no desire to be associated with. To top it all off, now that the world knows without a doubt that the orange machines are the same as MF and Challenger under the paint, I really don't want the orange one either. I know that if they would have put their marketing effort into the orange products rather than inventing the challenger brand, things would be a whole lot different now. I hated when they ended the White tractor line, but I never in my wildest dreams imagined they would euthanize their own namesake. There will be no massey equipment on my farm, and I am looking forward to the day I can send my tracked Challenger down the road. I might still consider a Gleaner combine, but the rest of the Agco group is tainted as far as I am concerned.

It takes weeks sometimes for agco to update there website, the orange tractors were supposed to be here till the end of the year, but the agcoiron website has been off the agco home page for a couple on months already.

I commented on it, and told them that orange is what the company was built on in the early 90's, but some guy proceeded to tell me that was not true, so i'm not quite sure what he thinks it was built on.

The Massey zealots all have this distorted view of the roots of the corporation. If they would study history they would find that Agco saved their bacon by taking them in. They don't understand that Massey no longer exists in any other form than a name. It is not a Massey factory in France. It is an Agco factory in France that is building an Agco designed tractor-meaning that all the parts of it came from different Agco branches. That tractor is more Fendt or Valtra than it ever will be Massey.
This is one topic that really gets me fired up. The damage has been done. Marty has executed a once grand lineage.
I wonder why they hired Marty anyway? Wasn't Dr. Kevorkian available?

Mf factories were distributed far wider than just France. England, the US, South Africa, Germany, and India all had MF factories at one point. Probably several eastern Europen countries because many MF were in use there. And often with those far flung factories, the only things that interchanged were tires and maybe paint colors. Most everything else had local "enhancements."

Whats left of MF production in Michigan is a closed up factory near detroit, it still said Massey Ferguson on it last I went by it. I have no use for MF's, we had a 135 and our 8n was every bit as good, actually better.

It's all in the marketing, that's why GM can sell GMC and Chevy trucks, some people actually think one is superior to the other, same girl, different dress. Allis Chalmers bit the bullet years ago, the AGCO thing was just marketing.

I have a few Allis Chalmers tractors but to me the end of an era and Allis Chalmers ended in 1985. A nameplate or orange paint will nor make it Allis Chalmers in my opinion. What about the new lawn mower with the Allis Chalmers on it. If the Allis decal is all it takes to keep Allis alive then the Allis is still alive. I have one of these mowers and will never use it but every time i look at it I do not see a Real Allis, only someone elses mower with a Allis name on it,

Massey tractors likely have a following much like our orange, so I am reserved in slamming MF, they did have some great tractors too. The upsetting part of this to me is the lack of marketing for the orange color. There are already 2 "other" RED tractors. Marketing the orange color as the trademark or signature of the line. Do they really think marketing another red tractor might confuse farmers into buying their red? That orange valtra is one of the sharpest tractors I've ever seen, and reportedly as good as anything out there, it just doesn't look as sharp in red or yellow, they just seem to blend into the background. Do you think John Deere would consider a different color? It's the trademark STUPID! Ed.

i think that the world is so messed up. why do they get rid of the best. the only reason john deere is still going is becouse they made crappy tractors so farmers would have to buy more parts. i think it is so stupid when a company makes something unbreakable and then they discontinue it becouse it is to good.

I wanted to see them do well because of the heritage of Allis-Chalmers and Gleaner. I do think the AGCO tractors are as good as any. Too bad they don't feel the same way we do.

They are in the Business to make money and keep moving forward.
We are the ones that collect AC and keep the name up as Hobby Collectors.
There is a time that every thing has to change and some have to get over it.
Worrying about them will not change what they are doing.
Need to just get over it and get back to Fixing up and collecting .To me that is what keeps the name going .My 2 cents .

Fred, I cannot agree with you more. The Allis Chalmers as we know it has long been gone. AGCO wisely bought Allis from Duetz and made the company stronger by buying up other brands. AGCO has reached the point that they no longer need the AGCO named tractor. I am distressed to see the orange go but that is a business decision made by a much different company. Hopefully, they will continue to make parts and other accessories for the Allis Chalmers tractors.
Funny, this is my first post of the New Year and I am truly sorry it has be about this subject. The end of AGCO Tractors.

Only time will tell if it was the right decision. It sure doesn't seem like it to us and if you look at the sales numbers, doesn't make sense company wise either. However, the AGCO stock price is up and they are selling red and other color tractors in other parts of the world. I suspect they will loose a lot of small scale customers, the ones that buy a machine every few years but maybe the BTO's don't look at color nearly as much as they do cost per hour and dealer support. Around here I don't see many big Masseys or AGCO's, mainly because of dealer support. Lots of green and quite a bit of red and blue.
It makes me happy every time someone posts that they saved another AC from the scrapman, because like land, they aren't making any more,
