I have an 1982 8050 which has devoloped an oil leak out of the exhaust manifold between cylinders 4 and 5 it is clean oil so i suspect a seal going out of the turbo. Any experience with the problem would be greatly appreciated. There is no squeal from the turbo so i dont thing bearings are going out yet but it seems to me there needs some attention. Any expertise is welcome.

If you suspect the turbo, get it checked out or rebuilt. The engine can and will run on the oil that leaks by on the "pressure" or clean air side of the turbo. You then have no throttle control or means of turning the engine off. You can put it in gear and stall it, but otherwise it will run wild and can be very harmful.

I would sooner think that what you see is unburnt diesel fuel mixed with the exhaust soot to look like oil. Probably an injector not firing quite right.Usually see this on cold engine startup, but a lot of times the leak dries up after the engine warms up.

Thanks for the help. Pulled the injectors out and had them tested. Tech said they were just "puked" fuel out with no patteren. The turbo looked like fuel was going through the blades so it was sent off also but havent heard anything back as of yet. Thanks again
