Does any body know why there  is a different part number for the D-19 piston vs the D-17/D-15 diesel piston. I bought 4 NOS sleeve and piston kits off ebay a few years ago for a D-15 diesel I am working on. One say D17 the other 3 say D19. The parts numbers match from Agco parts book. So I have one D17 sleeve and piston kit which will work in a D15 diesel. And Three D19 sleeve and piston kits. All of the rings measure the same. The sleeves measure the same. The pistons measrue the same. I think the D15/17/19 use the same sleeve. But the ring kit and piston numbers seem to be different. Looking for any thoughts.

The early D19 was lower comp. & the pistons have valve fly cuts to clear the intake valve,as they had a different camshaft. The later D19s used the same piston as D17s, but some early D17 & D15 pistons had slightly lower decked pistons.
