Just wanted to share, Ive always kept an eye out for one of these grease guns and finally found one. These came new with many of the tractors of the 30s, 40s and 50s. My Grandfather said the ones that came with the WD and C were on the farm yet, but I have yet to find them. This one is in decent shape. It doesnt come up in the picture but the "Lincoln" is still visible. Looks neat on the shelf atleast.

My dad had one of those he used on his cars. I don't recall whether I saved it when it sold his house.

Jim, I remember seeing many of those grease guns at my families Allis dealership many years ago.
Would be nice to have one in my collection also.

Jim, in one of the tractor manuals that I had, I think the Book of Knowledge with the black cover that covered the B, C, CA there was a parts list in the back that showed this grease gun, a spark plug socket with handle and a third item (which I can't remember) that came in the tool box. Nice find!! Armand

They aren't that hard to find, just need to know who to ask! I think the larger guns came with A-C stuff, too. All I know is they work best with a heavy oil, not grease, and warm weather is better, too! This little can was in the pail with the grease guns. Backside says "soluble oil". Too bad the paint is all gone on the lower 1/3, would have looked nice in a collection. |

I have read there are places that are best lubricated with heavy oil rather than grease such as steering gear boxes and mower bearings etc. What type of gun is used in this application? Will an ordinary grease gun work? Thanks

Armand, the 3rd item is the wheel lock wrench for power shift wheels and lug bolts. I have all 3 of the tools that came with Dad's CA. The spark plug wrench rode many hours on the gear shift lever. Charlie

I have quite a few of those myself, but does anyone have a quadrant stop I was lucky enough to find 2 of them in tractor tool boxes one in a 56 and the other in a 57 I was looking through the parts book and saw them and realized that I had seen something like that before so I went out and started digging but only found two, does anyone have a pic of what I am talking about

I thought Lincoln still made something like those, for some reason the Lincoln online catalog http://www.lincolnlube.com/OnlineCatalog/onlinecatalog.asp won't open for me tonight , but I know you can get similar after market ones ![]() This one is in Northern Tools http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200308549_200308549

My dad bought a new 1947 Massey Harris 44 Diesel tractor from a dealer that was 2 miles from our farm. It was one of the first Diesel tractors sold in this area. It came with one of the grease guns that Jim from Iowa showed. I had a friend give me one a couple of years ago. Some PTO and universal joints that have a grease fitting on require a thin tube grease gun to get onto the grease nipple. I do use it occasionally.

I found a couple of those in my Dads workshop last weekend.
Also found a NOS Ford 1950's drivers side rearview mirror. In the box, with templates for mounting on the cars that used it. Included cars was the Ford Thunderbird...

I was actually looking through a 1935 Gleaner book and they showed the same gun as well! Russ, I have several around the farm that are like the three on the left, I wonder if those are the ones that came with our tractors? The one I posted the picture of was at a farm where two brothers had lived. They threw nothing away, many A-C parts hanging on the nails in the sheds, did find some useful stuff but mostly used parts put back in the parts boxes once the new part was installed.
